SJARD was established by Binyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia as the institution’s research journal. Located in Hadejia, in the semi-arid north of Jigawa State, the Polytechnic’s motto — Technology for Development — reflects a long-standing commitment to research that improves livelihoods in dryland communities.
Maiden edition
The maiden edition, Volume 1, Number 1, was published in December 2017 with eleven articles. Since then the journal has been published biannually, in June and December, with the support of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
The online platform
In 2026 SJARD moved to this website and online editorial system. Manuscript submission, blind peer review, editorial decisions and publication now take place in a single, trackable workflow, replacing submission by email. Every published article receives a permanent, citable landing page with structured metadata to support indexing.
The editorial office will expand this page with past editors and milestones.
